1. 81% of you would avoid…family functions
Your date will be nervous enough trying to impress you 鈥 don鈥檛 make someone audition for family and friends, too. 鈥淲ho needs that pressure?鈥 says Wyatt, 32, from Lafayette, CO. 鈥淢y family is so far from normal I wouldn鈥檛 let a date near them.鈥
2. 34% of you would avoid…dance clubs
Loud music, pulsing lights, guys without shirts鈥 need we say more? 鈥淓veryone鈥檚 on the prowl. That would be very uncomfortable,鈥 explains Rosie, 31, from Modesto, CA. We have to agree.
3. 31% of you would avoid…movies
You spend two lame hours staring at a screen, not getting to know each other鈥lus there鈥檚 always a risk the flick will contain a risqu茅 scene that鈥檒l create an awkward moment. John, 28, from Boston, recalls taking a date to a David Lynch film. 鈥淗er reaction was, 鈥榃hy did you take me to this?鈥欌 he says.
4. 24% of you would avoid…sporting events
Any place that involves face paint, the wave, and angry guys screaming at the referee is no venue for a soul mate connection. William, 23, from Upland, IN also points out they don鈥檛 bring out the best in men: 鈥淕uys can seem a little too aggressive, and women might find that scary.鈥
5. 15% of you would avoid…the beach
Just because you like strolling hand in hand seaside doesn鈥檛 meet you should do it on your first meeting. Karen, 28, from Dallas, concurs. 鈥淚t鈥檚 hard enough to pick out a cute little black dress,鈥 she says. 鈥淗ow do you pick out a perfect bikini?鈥
6. 15% of you would avoid…comedy shows
If the comic is bad, that lame vibe will extend to the entire evening. 鈥淐omedy is great when it鈥檚 good. But horrid when it鈥檚 bad,鈥 says Anne, 37, from Spokane, WA.
7. 13% of you would avoid鈥ini-golf
Trying to outsmart that little windmill is great fun 鈥 if you鈥檙e 10 years old. 鈥淚f you鈥檙e anything like me, you鈥檙e clumsy when you鈥檙e nervous. Bad idea for a first date!鈥 says Angie, 28, from Lima, OH.
8. 11% of you would avoid…theme restaurants
Never take a first date to a restaurant where your waiter is dressed like Chubby Checker, Fred Flintstone or Quasimodo. Beth, 32, from Brooklyn, NY, recalls her awful date at a medieval-themed restaurant. 鈥淵ou have to either pretend there aren鈥檛 people in bloomers delivering your food, or keep making jokes like, 鈥業 think I鈥檒l have the ye olde steak,鈥欌 she says.
9. 9% of you would avoid…museums
A first date is a time to kick back and relax, not solemnly contemplate the works of the great masters. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a little too much intellectual stimulation for a first date,鈥 says Amy, 27, of Cherry Hill, NJ.
10. 9% of you would avoid…coffee houses
Some people might think that meeting for coffee is an easy, breezy way to meet cute. But let鈥檚 face it: It鈥檚 hardly romantic. Or as Sandi, 40, from Tampa, FL, put it: 鈥淏orrrrring!鈥
Sara Eckel writes for Glamour, Self, and Cosmopolitan 鈥 and actually wouldn鈥檛 mind going mini-golfing on a first date.
Note: Percentages add up to more than 100% because some respondents made multiple selections.

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.
